Myofascial release (MFR) is an alternative medicine therapy used by Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Massage Therapy Professionals, is useful for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulating the stretch reflex muscles.

Many people mistakenly think that Fascia is related to the face, but theoretically it is more related to the body connective tissues. Fascia is a thin, though, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps most structures within the human body, including muscle. Fascia supports and protects these structures. Osteopathic practice holds that this soft tissue can become restricted due to psychogenic disease, overuse, trauma, infectious agents, or inactivity, often resulting in pain, muscle tension and diminished blood flow.

According to my experience, Myofascial release is at least 3 times more effective than regular deep tissue massage. Myofascial release focuses on reducing pain by easing the tension and tightness in the trigger points. It’s not always easy to understand what trigger point is responsible for the pain. Localizing pain to a specific trigger point is very difficult.

For that reason, myofascial release will help to release chains of muscles all at once instead of going one by one. This positions myofascial therapy at a higher level of effectiveness for the treatment of pain and tension.

Don’t let the pressure of work hold you back, let myofascial release free you to move ahead easily.
